The Rieserferner Ahrn Nature Park
Untouched and incomparable
In Rieserferner Ahrn nature park the nature call the tune. Here the snow rests on the mountain peaks till May, a paradise for backcountry-skiers and lovers of nature.Foxes, badgers, eagles and pine-martens are living in the park, which takes part of the biggest association of protected areas in Europe with the Zillertaler Hauptkamm area in Austria.
The Park is situated between the bottom of the Tauferer Ahrn Valley in the northwest, the Austrian border at Staller Sattel in the east, Antholzertal in the south-east and Pustertal in the south and over an area of around 31,505 hectares. There belonging to the villages of Sand in Taufers, Gais, Percha, Rasen-Antholz, Ahrntal and Prettau.
The Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park borders on the Hohe Tauern National Park. Together with the Zillertaler Hauptkamm area they build up the biggest association of protected areas in Europe, with a total area of 2,471 square kilometers.
The Nature Park House is situated in Sand in Taufers in Tauferer Ahrntal Valley.
