To Mt. Schönbichl in Pustertal Valley
Schönbichl means "beautiful mountain" in German language. And the 2452 m high Schönbichl is truly one of the most beautiful and easy reachable mountains in Pustertal Valley. See here how to reach the rewarding mountain-destination.
Our trekking tour starts in
Oberwielenbach in Pustertal Valley. The village is situated about 25 km from
Bruneck.
We park at the end of the village and take excursion-path 1 until we
reach the last hut. After some meters we turn to left and follow path
7b through beautiful larch-woods and steep hillsides. After about 1,5
hours we reach the
"Hühnerspiel!-plateau,
where we turn to the right and follow the ascent traces to the peak of
Mt. Schönbichl. We get there in all in all 2-3 hours. From here we
enjoy an a
mazing view over hundreds of mountains.
For example over Mt. Geige, Mt. Windschar, Mt. Rauchkofel, Mt.
Fensterlekofel, Mt. Wasserkopf, Mt. Morgenkofel and Mt. Schwarze Wand
and in Southern direction over Mt. Kronplatz, Mt. Drei Finger, Mt.
Maurerkopf, Mt. Piz da Peres etc.
To get back to Oberwielenbach, we walk back to "Hühnerspiel"
plateau and on path 3 we walk through a magic landscape into a deep
wood, where we take path 3 and walk on the left side of the hill back
to Oberwielenbach. Attention: do not turn to Tesselberg!
