Mountain hikes in late summer

south-tyrol.com and Arcalpin recommend the following tours to discover South Tyrolean moutnains in lately summer.

4th August: mount Sella group – Pössnecker fixed rope route

The precipitous fixed rope route Pössnecker is situated in the western wall of mount Sella and leads us into the middle of the wall. From here we reach the plateau of Sella and of mount Piz Gralba, 2950m. After a relaxing break we walk back along the walking path through Val Lasties Valley.

11th August: mount Pares 2397 m

Grödnerjoch pass – Wengen, 1500 m
Starting from the mountain village Wengen we walk along an ancient hay-path in direction of mount Kreuzspitze, 2020 m. Our destination, mount Pares, is overtop all other peaks around and we can see it everytime. On path 15 we walk back to our starting point.

14th August: Sassongher

Grödnerjoch pass – Kolfuschg
The ride with the cable car makes the way up to mount Col Pradat, 2045 m, much easier. On foot we hike through the Edelweiß Valley until we get into the fixed rope route, which leads us to mount Sassongher on 2665 m. The way back brings us through Val Scura Valley.

17th August: Seiser Alm mountain pasture – mount Schlern

Our starting point is mount Spitzbühl, 1980 m. We walk to the mountain pasture Saltner Schwaige and reach the Schlern plateau on 1700 m along the mount Schlern walls. On the precipitous chamois-path we hike on to Schlern hut.

25th August: Alpinisteig path

Pustertal Valley – Sexten
With the cable car we reach the Rotwand meadows on 1924 without effort. On foot and upstairs we reach the Elfer ridge on 2649 m. Here we go through the natural rock band of the famous Alpinisteig path to mount Giralba 2431 m. The walk down leads us to the popular Zigismondi hut and back to Fischleintal Valley, our starting point.

1st September: mount Schlern – Schäufele path

A forest path leads as to Weislahn mountain pasture on 1570 m. Here we take the path Schlern, on which we reach mount Peter Frag, 1750 m. On Schäufele path we go on to the Schlern hut on 2457 m. The way back leads us along the Brügel path and through “devils’ gap”.

8th September: mount Rosengarten & 3 passes excursion

Karer pass – Frommer Alm mountain pasture, 1742 m
The chairlift brings us to Kölner hut, on 2239 m. We walk on a precipitous path to Tschafer Joch pass, 2630, to Tschigolade pass, 2550 m and to Vaiolon pass, 2560. The Hirzelsteig path is our way back to our starting point.

15th September: Trafoi – Fürckelhütte hut

In Trafoi we take the chairlift to the Fürkelhütte hut, 2153 m. Along path 20 (Goldlake way) we hike to Stilfserjoch pass on 2757 m. Our constant companion is mount Ortler.

22nd September: Ridnaun – Poschhaus hut

The famous “7 lakes excursion”
Starting from Poschhaus hut we hike around Moarer Egetseen Lakes and up to Egetjoch pass on 2695 m. Along path 33 we reach the Trübe See Lake, 2344 m, and mount Fernernach, 2119 m. After a short break we walk down to Maiern, 1426 m.
