The climbing parks near Bozen

The area of Bozen is unfortunately often brittle, but there are still some very interesting cliffs. Those larger are close to Kurtatsch.
The various cliffs have different difficulty, suitable for all types of climbing and preparation.
The temperatures are quite warm, especially during the summer and spring. The view that you can see is unique!
  • 1. Tanzbach **

This area is located near the Talfer, the landscape is very beautiful. The climbing park is located near a river, pay particular attention during lightning storms.

Route: from Bozen, you enter in Sarental Valley, at the bifurcation for Ritten continue to Sarnthein, came to the first curve to the right, turn left to the park on a small rocky hill.
Access: descend on a path from the parking and go up until the river.
Difficulty: 2 from 5a to 6a; 7 from 6a to 6c; 1 from 6c to 7b
  • 2. Fund ****

This climbing park is in Trient, but it is very near to the South Tyrol, is a very suitable area for families and beautiful during the summer. It climbs on limestone, and took lateral notches.

Route: from Bozen, on Mendellpass follow the road until Fondo, cross the country and reach the Lake Smeraldo, after 2 km park in the right of a green bar. If you come from Meran, by Lana takes to Passo Palade until Fondo, then follow as above.
Access: Behind the green bar follow the walk Sedarno, turn right at the cartel, climb the stairs up to the rocks, about 10 minutes.
Difficulty: 8 up to 5a; 7 from 5a to 6a;10 from 6a to 6c; 7 from 6c to 7b; 4 from 7b to 8a;
  • 3. Marderplatten - Kurtatsch ***

The climbing park, loved especially in winter is a good alternative to Arco. Here also less experienced climbers can find ways suited to them. The climbing is very varied on limestone, and notches.

Route: From Bozen, in the direction of Fennberg,  reached Kurtatsch. Turn right 100m after, at the  4th  bend, climb the steep road and park at the 9th  station of “via cruces”, or continue for 300m towards on the left, to Fennberg and park near a small bridge. Access: you arrive at the climbing park following a path fairly steep for about 15 minutes.
Difficulty: 3 from 5a to 6a; 26 from 6a to 6c; 12 from 6c to 7b; 4 from 7b to 8a;
  • 4. Kreidlwände - Kurtatsch *

A small climbing park in the lower South Tyrol region near Kurtatsch, limestone, climbing on vertical plates. Attention at fall of boulders because of chamois.

Route: From Bozen follow direction to Fennberg until Kurtatsch, continue for 200m parking to the left of the house that meets on the road.
Access: 50m back, climb the slope and walk in the woods for approx. 5 minutes up to boulders.
Difficulty: 4 from 6a to 6c; 2 from 6c to 7b.
  • 5. Fennberg ***

Fennberg is known to test even the most experienced climbers, today there are also easy ways. The climbing is very athletic, on artificial taken and limestone.

Route: From Kurtatsch, direction Fennberg, park right on the curve at about 200m from Boarenwald.
Access: Continue on the road to Fennberg for about 100m, reaching the climbing park, which is located above the road, bypassing the guardrail to the left and using fixed ropes to climb.
Difficulty: 5 from 6a to 6c; 10 from 6c to 7b; 12 from 7b to 8a; 8 over 8a.
  • 6. Tor di Visione - Masi di Vigo ***

The climbing wall is one of the 4 that are not in the province of Bozen. Climbing is on limestone, with net holes and notches.

Route: From Bozen, exit at San Michele / Mezzacorona, continues in the direction Mezzolombardo-Val di Non - Cles.  After 7.5 km , turn right towards Vigo di Ton up to the church of house Masi of Vigo. Here you can park.
Access: follow the trail nr.516, arriving at the end of the asphalt road beyond the orchard, then continues on forest road on the right. Follow the path towards the trail 516 to Tor di Vision, after the table with the bench, follow the path marked in blue for about 30m. It descends to climbing with ropes fixed.
Difficulty: 2 up to 5a; 1 from 6a to 6c; 6 da 6c a 7b; 6 da 7b a 8a;
  • 7. Garbe **

This is the arena rock southernmost of South Tyrol. The rock is limestone, climbs on plates.

Route: Leave at Neumarkt the highway, then continue to Trient. At the chapel after Laag turn left and continue in the direction of Garbehütte. You can park here.
Access: follow the road for 15 minutes until the individual's departure.
Difficulty: 2 up to 5a; 3 from 5a to 6a; 5 from 6a to 6c; 3 from 6c to 7b.
  • 8. Truden - Mühlen **

This is one of the best climbing park in Bozen and surrounding.  Climbing limestone, especially notches.

Route: exit at Neumarkt/Auer in the highway, continue to Montan, follow the path to Truden, park at the "Zur Mühle.
Access: on the left side of the road there is a wooden sign that points the way to the cliff.
Difficulty: 4 up to 5a; 12 from 5a to 6a; 16 from 6a to 6c; 2 from 6c to 7b.
  • 9. Cavalese *

The plates of porphyry, high approx. 20 metres, are visible from the street. It climbs on plates tilted.

Directions: Exit of Neumarkt/Auer, continues to Cavalese. At the country, after the tunnel, there is a large car park.
Access: you park in front of the cliff
Difficulty: 1 from 5a to 6a;5 from 6a to 6c; 3 from 6c to 7b; 1 from 7b to 8a.
