Fixed rope routes in South Tyrol

At the Punta Fiames

The Punta Fiames with its 2240 metres, is not really the bigger  mountain in the Dolomites, but its fixed rope routes ar exciting and rewarding.

The climbing wall on the west flank of Punta Fiames was in contrast to many other climbing in the Dolomites that were built during the 1st World War in honour of Albino Michielli Strobel. The fixed rope route has also his name.

Fixed rope route in Punta Fiames

Starting point is the town Fiames, about 4 km from Cortina d'Ampezzo. You can park at the hotel Fiames. You cross the street and carriage path through the forest to get right on a path to a meeting of the rubble. On the left end of the climbing trail begins. (1 hour from the starting point)

The Climbing wall, waiting with some light and unsecured passages on the steep, exposed sections are consistently well-hedged.  After almost 2 hours you arrive at the summit of Punta Fiames.

Descent

The descent goes further to the east to the rubble of the saddle “Forcella del Pompagnon”. Down on the south-facing Karrinne and have a slip lane to the right slipper. Here follow the well-marked path back to the starting point.
