The Oscar Schuster fixed rope route

The Plattkofel is a peak in the Langkofel in South Tyrol. In contrast to the other peaks of the Langkofel, Plattkofel is relatively easy to reach.

The Oscar Schuster fixed rope route leads to the summit of the 2958-metre-high mountain.

Starting point is the Toni Demetz hut. That takes you on Wolkenstein in Gröden. Take the Plan de Gralba lift. At the top station is the Toni Demetz hut. From here reach the refuge at 2235 m altitude.

By rubble and debris can be reached soon the entry of the fixed rope route.
The top is partly secured, sometimes not. Then it goes through cracks, fireplaces and airy passages, which are partially free climbing.

Before the summit, it goes through stages and rubble wall to a wide gully, continue to Scharte and over a ridge to the summit of the cross Plattkofels. For the slight fixed rope route need just under 2 hours.

Descent

From the cross in the summit return to the saddle at the foot of the slope. Then continue south to the Fassa Plattkofelhütte. Here on the beautiful Friedrich August past the Rifugio Sandro Petrini and Friedrich August . Walk to the house and to the lifts there.
